The primary function of the shop volunteer is to prepare and sell goods donated at our Newlands Store so that valuable funding is provided for our community services. Shop volunteers will provide competent customer service and assistance including point of sale and accepting of donations. Volunteers will ensure that shops are at all times well presented: clean and fully stocked.

Are you passionate about reducing food waste which can help thousands of people in the Greater Wellington region each year? Applicants will need to have their own transport as we are located in Grenada North which is not close to public transport. Be reasonably fit and able to lift between 2 people 15-20kgs. Our chiller truck requires a full clean driver licence with the driver being over 25 years old for our commercial insurance. Food rescue volunteers work with the other team members on weekday mornings collecting and sorting food donated to us by retailers and food manufacturing companies in the Newlands to Porirua area. All food is then brought back to our warehouse where our partner agencies are waiting for you to unload the stock and to take the food back to their foodbanks. Part time for a minimum of 3 months on a once-a-week basis (more often if you wish if spaces allow).
