The Newlands Resilience Group is a community-led initiative working to strengthen community and disaster resilience across Newlands, Paparangi, Woodridge and surrounding suburbs. Since 2019, we have conducted annual community surveys aligned with the Treasury Living Standards Framework to understand local wellbeing across economic, social, cultural, environmental and governance dimensions.
We are seeking a volunteer with Power BI expertise to help update and enhance our existing dashboards using the latest 2025 community survey results.
This work will support clearer communication of community insights and help inform local decision-making and resilience initiatives.
Your contribution will help translate community insights into meaningful visuals that support better decisions and stronger outcomes for local residents - particularly in areas such community resilience, disaster preparedness, and speaking with our voices into decision making.

This role supports the busy Financial Mentors who work with people struggling with their finances. Clients can be stressed and finding it difficult to communicate with other agencies. The role involves taking phone calls, making appointments, noting messages and greeting people when they arrive at the door. Each year the Curtain Bank supports an average of 400 Wellington houses to stay warmer by providing them with upcycled, fully lined curtains. We receive an array of gorgeous donated fabric that we would love to be able to rehome, however some of this fabric is not quite able to be repurposed into curtains. We sell some of these lovely vintage fabrics on Trademe to help fund our mahi.

We are looking for new Committee members or helpers
Core committee- Each member takes ownership of an area of the con (list below). You are responsible for making that area work and passing on that knowledge to the next person. The commitments are a monthly Zoom or face-to-face meeting, taking turns chairing meetings & recording minutes and coordinating tasks leading up to the events. One or two committee rotate each year, so there are always varied opportunities.
Helpers- Become part of a mini-team for one of the above areas. You will take on tasks as described by the committee lead & report back when completed. You will also have regular check-ins to discuss tasks, which may become more frequent leading up to the event. We're a big event now in Wellington so it's vital that each committee member has a couple of people to support them & make Wellycon the fun, friendly event it is.
