• Act as a key point of contact between the Board and Centre staff.

Please note: The current Convenor will be stepping down from the Board at the end of the year, and will provide a fulsome handover to the new Convenor to ensure a smooth transition.

This is very much a front-line role, where every journey you make will be helping someone to get the support and treatment they need, so being empathetic and a good listener is vital as you travel to and from appointments.

GirlGuiding New Zealand is all about empowering women of all ages to develop confidence, leadership and to be capable members of society. This means going outdoors, adventuring around the local area and learning new things by getting stuck in.

As a Unit Leader, you will be part of a passionate team who:

• Provide a fun, challenging, and exciting programme for girls.
• Facilitate opportunities for girls to contribute and ensure that there is a strong girl voice in the unit.
• Receive ongoing training and mentoring opportunities.

Time Commitment

• A regular commitment to attend and help run a weekly unit meeting, for 1-2 hours, generally during term time.
• Extra time to plan the programme with girls and leaders, including camps, excursions, and attending trainings. On average, 1 hour per week across the term.

Sailability Wellington is an inclusive sailing club for people with disabilities. With over 200 sailing members and 70 experienced volunteers, we sail up to 6 days a week from our bases at Seaview, Evans Bay and Onepoto (Porirua). Each sailor can participate in activities that match their personal interest and capability. We have 27 specially designed Hansa yachts and 3 support boats and operate with strict safety protocols.

We are looking for reliable crew members who can turn up on a regular basis to make a difference in people's lives. We have a range of roles include rigging (and de-rigging) boats, welcoming sailors, fitting lifejackets, helping people in and out of boats, sailing with clients and helping with lunch. Sailing experience is welcome but not essential.

This role is not available for short term mandated Community Work Experience.

Changemakers aims to help women from refugee backgrounds to get their driver's licence. Being able to learn to drive is crucial to access work and education, and support their greater participation in their wider communities and longer term goals of independence. However, many women don't have the support they need to get their licence, including a mentor to practice with. Which is why we need your help!

We're looking for calm and confident female volunteers who can take women from a refugee background community out for driving practice once or twice a week. Support and guidance will be given by the driving instructor who first train the women and the programme coordinator.

In return, you will make a positive difference in the life of woman from a refugee background and her family, increase your understanding of another culture and contribute to improving driver safety on the road.

Community Law are looking for volunteer lawyers in Lower Hutt. Volunteering at Community Law is an opportunity to learn about strategies for social change and connect with other people who care about justice. The work you'll be involved in directly contributes to upholding the mana in our communities.

Gain practical experience giving legal assistance while empowering clients and making sure the community has better access to the legal system.

Our volunteer lawyers come from all fields of law. Many provide advice through our general sessions on all non-commercial areas of the law, or offer specialist knowledge in specific sessions such as:

• Employment Law
• Family Law
• Immigration Law

We are accepting applications for all sessions, but we are currently prioritising:

• General and benefits lawyers for our Monday 12-2pm session in Wellington (benefits training provided)
• Employment lawyer for our Tuesday 5-7pm session
• General lawyer for our Wednesday 12-2pm session

We are also seeking lawyers with experience in the following areas:

• Insurance
• ACC
• Tenancy
• Criminal Law
• Land Transport (e.g., drink-driving offences)
