The Kilbirnie & Lyall Bay Community Centre offers free tech help to members of the community. Sessions run every Monday from 10am to 12pm in our Meeting Room at 56-58 Bay Road, Kilbirnie. People drop in for help with learning to use their smartphones, laptops and other devices, using apps, writing emails and documents, filling in online forms, troubleshooting basic technology problems, and navigating social media and setting up accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Help people learn to use their devices, apps and online forms
- Troubleshoot everyday technology problems
- Use one of our laptops as a terminal to search for solutions or demonstrate how to do things
- Work independently, with our Office Administrator, Maddy, supervising
Skills Required
- Fluency with smartphones and the Windows OS, and some familiarity with Facebook, messaging apps and online forms
- Good investigative and troubleshooting skills
- Patience and compassion for people who are new to digital tools and devices
- Friendly, welcoming and kind, and enthusiastic about helping others
