Connect to a Cause

Volunteer Wellington supports a diverse range of volunteer-involving community organisations doing incredible mahi (work) across the rohe (region).

Get to Know the Causes

Know that you want to volunteer but not sure where or how to contribute to the community in a way that aligns with your personal values and interests?

On this page you can browse through the kaupapa (the why) of these causes before you browse the opportunities they have live.

It is also a great way to get to know what awesome causes are right on your doorstep.

Things to know

Time Commitment

Volunteering can take as little as one hour per week. Different opportunities require different amounts of time and commitment.

Availability Options

You can volunteer on weekdays or evenings and weekends – it’s up to you. Some volunteer opportunities can only be performed at certain times, but there is something suitable for everyone.

Skills & Training

You don’t need to have specific skills or experience to volunteer. Many opportunities involve training so it can be a great opportunity to try something new!

Accessibility

Unpaid doesn't mean your basic expenses aren't covered. If transport to and from the volunteer opportunity are a barrier - chat to your Volunteer Manager.

Abstract yellow background

"Volunteers, especially younger ones, are increasingly motivated by personal values, skill development, and alignment with causes they care about."
