Volunteer Wellington is the namesake and main office of the greater organisation. We have been supporting and championing volunteering in Wellington since 1992!
About Volunteer Wellington
Every year, we connect thousands of people with meaningful volunteer opportunities while supporting more than 300 community organisations, charities, and grassroots groups that rely on volunteers to deliver essential services.
We take a people-centered approach to volunteering. We support both individuals looking to volunteer and the organisations that rely on volunteers to deliver their services. Our mahi focuses on making volunteering accessible, inclusive, and impactful for everyone involved. We also provide comprehensive support to community organisations through personalised consultancy, volunteer management training, strategic planning, and networking opportunities.
Our model is based on deep community relationships and 34 years of experience. It is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but one that evolves alongside the sector. Organisations consistently tell us that our services are essential. Volunteers tell us they feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Hand out flyers on Vivian Street, weekday lunchtimes, to promote Bhakti Lounge's new lunch offering.
Drive an accessible vehicle to transport a Huntleigh Home resident in Karori to appointments and outings, as needed.
Recruit and mentor kaiako to lead kapa haka sessions for the LIFE Trust's Toi Whakapapa programme in Wellington.
Write engaging event promotion copy for Bhakti Lounge roughly eight events a month.
Film Bhakti Lounge events in the evenings to capture their energy and atmosphere.
Design a new website homepage for Bhakti Lounge aligned with their updated branding.
Spend weekend time with a young man in Roseneath-Melrose who enjoys Disney, art, and music through IHC's friendship programme.
Drive Blind Low Vision NZ members in the Wairarapa to recreation activities on Monday and/or Wednesday mornings.
Support Blind Low Vision NZ members at recreation activities across Wellington, from indoor bowls to walking groups.
Provide flexible one-on-one support to Blind Low Vision NZ members around Wellington, from reading to driving to activities.
