Companion Visitors for Elderly Residents
Porirua
Presbyterian Support Central provides compassionate residential care for people across the Wellington region, including elderly and frail residents who may feel isolated and benefit greatly from regular friendly company. Companion Visitors bring the warmth of genuine human connection to each visit.
This volunteer opportunity involves making regular friendly visits to a resident living in a Porirua care facility, chatting over a cup of tea, playing cards, doing a puzzle, going for a walk, or simply being present and engaged. Volunteers are matched with a resident based on shared interests or background. Times are flexible.
What you'll bring:
• A warm, patient manner and genuine interest in older people
• Reliability and consistency for regular visits
• Comfort in one-on-one conversation across a wide range of topics
You might be a great fit if you are:
• Caring, empathetic, and a good listener
• Non-judgmental and respectful of residents' pace and preferences
• Committed to showing up consistently
Training Provided: Details to be confirmed with the organisation.
