Blind Low Vision NZ provides emotional and practical support so that people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision can keep working and living independently, empowering them to live the life they choose. In the Wairarapa area, having a reliable volunteer driver makes it possible for members to get to and from their regular recreation and social activities.
This volunteer opportunity involves picking up and dropping off clients from home, supporting them during the activity to ensure they feel safe and included, and helping create a welcoming environment. It's a Monday and/or Wednesday morning commitment, with flexibility to help out on other days when needed. Petrol is reimbursed at $0.79 per km.
What you'll bring:
• A full, clean driver's licence
• Willingness to complete BLVNZ's Human Guiding and disability awareness training
You might be a great fit if you are:
• Friendly, welcoming, organised and reliable
• Comfortable assisting people with low or no vision
Training Provided: Details to be confirmed with the organisation.
