Crafting Threads of Aroha is seeking a qualified or experienced accountant to conduct a high-level annual review of the charity's financial reports. While the organisation's size exempts it from formal statutory audits, several of its key grant funders require an independent review of the annual accounts to confirm accuracy and transparency.

This is a micro-volunteer role requiring a commitment of no more than 4 hours per year.

You'll help with:

  • Independent accounts review — conducting a high-level review of the charity's annual financial statements (income and expenditure summary, income and expenditure report/cash flow) to verify accuracy against provided records.
  • Grant compliance sign-off — providing a brief written confirmation or signed statement verifying that the annual financial report presents an accurate reflection of the organisation's finances, satisfying grant funder compliance requirements.
  • Annual report check — performing a final sanity check on the financial summary intended for inclusion in the Annual Report prior to submission or publication.

This role is fully remote and only required once a year, typically aligned with end-of-year reporting cycles — a small but meaningful contribution.

You'll need:

  • An accounting qualification (e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA) or substantial professional bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • Independence from the day-to-day financial operations of the charity, to satisfy grant provider rules for an independent reviewer
  • Familiarity with basic non-profit or charity financial reporting is a plus, but not essential
