Kaiārahi Whakahaere | Operations Lead
Wellington
New Zealand Film Collaborators is a charitable community production house that uses a community theatre-style model to make films with people, building an inclusive filmmaking village guided by Radical Accessibility, Manaakitanga, Kotahitanga and Whanaungatanga.
Our Board needs to focus on governance, organisational direction, risk and strategic decisions — it can't also coordinate every part of day-to-day delivery. Without an Operations Lead, volunteer coordination becomes fragmented and work can stall with no central view of priorities, capacity and blockers. This role coordinates operational delivery across the organisation and acts as the central point of coordination and reporting to the Board.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate the operational delivery rhythm and work with Board-appointed sponsors on approved priorities
- Facilitate regular check-ins with coordinators and volunteers, monitoring progress, dependencies, capacity and risks
- Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to allocate confirmed volunteer capacity, and with the Work Management Coordinator to keep Jira/Confluence records accurate
- Prepare concise progress, capacity and blocker reports for the Board
- Ensure work that can't be safely or realistically resourced is deferred rather than carried at risk
What you'll bring:
- Operational, programme or project coordination experience, confident working across several workstreams
- Experience with, or understanding of, volunteer-led organisations
You might be a great fit if you are:
- A clear written and spoken communicator who follows through and escalates issues appropriately
- Comfortable with shared digital tools, with an understanding of the distinction between governance and operational delivery
Time Commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours per week, with occasional additional capacity during recruitment campaigns or major launches.
