Kairitea Tūao | Volunteer Coordinator

New Zealand Film Collaborators is a charitable community production house that uses a community theatre-style model to make films with people, building an inclusive filmmaking village where people from different cultures, communities, backgrounds and levels of experience can learn, contribute, connect and create together.

Our operational model depends on knowing what skills volunteers bring, how much time they can realistically offer and what kinds of contributions will be meaningful and sustainable for them. Without a Volunteer Coordinator, availability can become unclear, matching becomes ad hoc, and work can be assigned without a realistic understanding of capacity. This role manages the day-to-day experience and administration of the volunteer pool — enquiries, onboarding, availability, matching, support and retention.

Key responsibilities:

  • Respond to volunteer enquiries and help prospective volunteers understand the organisation and available opportunities
  • Confirm volunteers' skills, interests, accessibility requirements and realistic availability
  • Coordinate volunteer onboarding into Jira, Canva and Slack, and maintain records on Google Workplace
  • Match volunteers to appropriate, approved tasks alongside the Operations Lead
  • Check in with volunteers, identify support needs, and support recognition, feedback and offboarding

What you'll bring:

  • Volunteer coordination, people coordination or community engagement experience
  • Warm and clear interpersonal communication, and strong record-keeping skills

You might be a great fit if you are:

  • Confident working with a diverse volunteer community
  • Respectful of privacy, accessibility and appropriate information handling

Time Commitment: Approximately 3-5 hours per week, with occasional additional capacity during recruitment drives and onboarding periods.
Reports to: The Operations Lead.
