Join one of our Freedom Philosophy volunteer teams as either a Tutor or Assistant and help us deliver a down-to-earth practical philosophy programme that teaches life skills inside correctional facilities in Wellington.

No prior experience is needed. What matters is your calm and steady presence, open-minded and non-judgemental approach, and your ability to engage respectfully with others as part of a team. Your maturity and perspective can help create an environment where people feel comfortable exploring ideas and challenging their thinking, that leads them to live better lives.

We are looking for mature, thoughtful and open-minded people who bring a breadth of life experience and a genuine interest in others.

Police check:

This role requires a police check.

Days, Hours for role:

Ideally 2-3 hours per week during weekdays for short 6-week courses, although we can work around your availability. You’ll attend scheduled prison sessions and ideally commit to a minimum of 6 months for consistency.

Training provided:

We help with training, both on-line and on site. You will receive training on the practical philosophy programmes and guidance on prison protocols. You will be fully supported throughout your journey.
