Recreation Volunteers (Kapiti/Waikanae)
Blind Low Vision NZ provides emotional and practical support so that people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision can keep working and living independently. In the Kapiti/Waikanae area, Community Committees and Support Groups rely on volunteers to help them run.
This volunteer opportunity involves supporting Community Committees and Support Groups with their monthly meetings and social events. Tasks include admin support and helping to coordinate the session, all while creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Time commitment depends on the activity, with full training and ongoing support from the BLVNZ team provided. Petrol is reimbursed at $0.79 per km (if driving members).
What you'll bring:
• A full, clean driver's licence (if driving members)
• Willingness to complete BLVNZ's registration and onboarding process as well as training in Human Guiding, disability awareness and more
You might be a great fit if you are:
• Friendly, welcoming and organised
• Comfortable assisting people with low or no vision
Training Provided: Details to be confirmed with the organisation.
