New Zealand Red Cross (Rīpeka Whero Aotearoa) is a humanitarian organisation dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable people by mobilising the power of humanity. The Refugee Support Volunteer programme provides friendly, practical support to former refugee families settling in Lower Hutt.

This volunteer opportunity involves joining a small RSV team to help a former refugee family with practical tasks as they settle into life in Lower Hutt. The typical time commitment is one to four hours per week, though during the initial three weeks a higher commitment (around eight hours per week) may be needed. Hours are spread flexibly across the week based on availability. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided.

What you'll bring:
• Warmth, cultural curiosity, and strong interpersonal skills
• Flexibility across the week to support the family's needs
• A current driver's licence and willingness to travel within the Hutt Valley

You might be a great fit if you are:
• Patient, adaptable, and genuinely interested in other cultures
• Reliable and motivated by long-term community connection
• Eager to be part of a welcoming team making a real difference

Training Provided: Comprehensive training and support provided by NZ Red Cross.
