Job Description:
Free For All is a grassroots, not-for-profit charitable trust based in Petone, committed to reducing waste and supporting families in need across the Hutt Valley. It operates a zero-waste Megacentre, redistributing quality pre-loved household goods, clothing, toys, and more to those facing financial hardship. With their main Petone shop now full, they've leased a new warehouse in Gracefield.
This volunteer opportunity involves supervising the off-premises store and helping develop the facility to feed into the retail operation on Te Puni Street. There's potential to build and lead a team of volunteers to help run the store.
Duties include:
- Ensuring deliveries are organised into a coherent system
- General tidying and security of the store
- Preparing for volunteer working bees
- Liaising with the Shop Manager to ensure sale-ready items are sent through
- Basic repair of damaged items
There's also room to help develop ideas for circulating items (garage sales, auctions, etc.), and potential to explore a "men's shed"-type service based at the store for minor repairs and repurposing furniture.
What you'll bring:
- Reasonable fitness, and a full driver's licence (you'll need to drive Free For All's small van when required)
- Organisational skills and a practical, hands-on approach
You might be a great fit if you are:
- Comfortable building and leading a small volunteer team
- Interested in DIY, repairs, or repurposing furniture
Days, Hours: Open-ended, with a preferred minimum of 10 hours per week on days to suit you.
