Special Olympics New Zealand offers a year-round programme of sports training and athletic competition for people with intellectual disabilities, building fitness, confidence, and meaningful community connections. Through swimming, volunteer coaches bring this vision to life.

This volunteer opportunity involves coaching the Special Olympics Swimming programme at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre, supporting athletes to develop their skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of competitive sport. Sessions run weekly on Sunday afternoons (4–5pm and/or 5–6pm), with the opportunity to support athletes at tournaments around the Lower North Island throughout the year.

What you'll bring:

- Confidence in the water and enthusiasm for coaching
- Reliability for weekly Sunday sessions
- Willingness to complete a Working With Children check

You might be a great fit if you are:

- Patient, encouraging, and energetic
- Committed to empowering people with intellectual disabilities through sport
- A team player who leads by example and celebrates effort

Training Provided: No previous formal coaching experience required — training and support provided.
