Matairangi Trail Builders are a dedicated community of over 20 volunteers who have been transforming Matairangi (Mount Victoria) into a premier mountain bike hub and site of native bush regeneration since 2020. Healthy, well-established native trees are central to this vision, and volunteers help give newly planted natives the best possible start.
This volunteer opportunity involves helping with tree release and weeding around newly planted native trees to help them survive and thrive, and planting during the winter months. Sessions take approximately two hours and can be arranged at a time flexible to suit the volunteer.
What you'll bring:
• Physical fitness for outdoor weeding and tree care
• No previous experience required
• Reliable and able to commit to occasional sessions
You might be a great fit if you are:
• Motivated by environmental restoration and native bush recovery
• Practical, hands-on, and self-directed
• Enthusiastic about Wellington's outdoor spaces and biodiversity
Training Provided: Details to be confirmed with the organisation.
