Visitor for Older People - Porirua and Johnsonville
Porirua
Age Concern Wellington Region Trust exists to ensure that older people in our region, including those in Porirua, Ascot Park, Titahi Bay, Tawa, and Johnsonville, live with dignity, connection, and respect. Isolation among older people is a significant concern, and a consistent volunteer visitor can be the difference between loneliness and genuine community belonging.
This volunteer opportunity involves visiting an isolated older person in their home for one hour each week, attending support group meetings, and maintaining regular contact with the coordinator. Volunteers are valued members of a team committed to keeping older people connected and thriving.
What you'll bring:
• Good listening and conversational skills
• Empathy and care for the wellbeing of older people
You might be a great fit if you are:
• Warm, patient, and compassionate
• Dependable and consistent
• Non-judgmental and respectful
