We are looking for enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers to support the delivery of inclusive Rainbow events across Te Awa Kairangi (Hutt Valley). As a Volunteer Event Assistant, you will work alongside the team at Te Whare Kahukura and Te Ngākau Kahukura o Te Awa Kairangi to bring local LGBTQIA+/takatāpui community gatherings, workshops and celebrations to life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Event Setup & Pack Down: Assist with setting up venues (decorations, seating, signage, AV equipment) and restoring spaces after events
• Manaakitanga & Welcoming: Greet attendees, manage entry/registration desks and foster a warm, inclusive and accessible environment for all participants
• Event Support: Help manage activity stations, distribute refreshments, guide guest speakers or performers and assist with general event logistics
• Community Safety: Keep an eye on space dynamics to ensure our events remain safe, affirmative and welcoming for takatāpui and Rainbow community members

What We're Looking For:

• A strong commitment to supporting Rainbow, takatāpui, and MVPFAFF+ communities
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and a dedication to manaakitanga and whakawhanaungatanga
• Reliable, proactive, and friendly communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team during busy event settings

Time Commitment & Location:
Flexible, event-based (primarily evenings and weekends). Various community venues across Te Awa Kairangi.
