Looking to use your financial skills to help a good cause? Wellington MS Society is after a volunteer Treasurer to join their Committee and help keep the organisation financially healthy and well run, supporting people living with MS and their whānau across the Wellington region.

You'll work alongside the President, Committee, staff and accountant to help manage the organisation's finances and support its wider work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring income, expenditure and bank accounts
  • Reviewing monthly financial information for the Committee
  • Preparing and monitoring the annual budget
  • Overseeing financial policies and authorising expenditure
  • Working with the accountant on annual accounts and reporting
  • Keeping financial records accurate and up to date
  • Supporting funding applications with financial info
  • Advising the Committee on financial matters

Skills Required
A good understanding of financial statements and basic financial management, confidence with accounting software (preferably Xero), and solid attention to detail. Previous Treasurer or community/charity experience is a bonus but not required — reliability and good judgement matter most.

Contact
You'll be supported by the WMS President, Committee, staff and accountant, and given a full introduction to the organisation and its financial processes.

Time Commitment
Around 10–15 hours per month, flexible, including Committee meetings as needed.
