Back to the community (BTTC)

Wellington

At the heart of BTTC are the principles of Hope, Choice, Mutual Respect, Reciprocity and Self-Determination. Rather than trying to fix people or tell them what they should do, the emphasis is on walking alongside someone through a challenging period of transition — fostering hope, belonging and participation in community life.

Once saved, you're set to create the Volunteer Coordinator opportunity and link it to this org — same three open questions from before (category for the opportunity itself, specific days for the 12 hrs/week, wheelchair access) still stand before that listing's ready to go live.

Our Mission:

Back to the Community (BTTC) is a Wellington-based peer-support initiative supporting people as they move from inpatient mental health care at Te Whare o Matairangi back into everyday community life. BTTC connects people preparing to leave hospital with trained volunteer peer mentors who bring their own lived experience of mental distress and recovery, offering encouragement, conversation, practical support and companionship.
