Newtown Community and Cultural Centre
The centre aims to bring people together to make a great community. Hosting a variety of concerts, gigs, theatrical performances, exercise and language classes, and cultural activities for our diverse Newtown community.
Our Mission:
Newtown Community Centre / Te Whare Hapori o ngā Puna Waiora is a busy and vibrant community hub in the heart of Newtown, Wellington. We have been an integral part of the Newtown community since our centre was established in 1977, working with community groups to develop and deliver initiatives that benefit the people of Newtown and surrounding suburbs.
Volunteer with us
Lead a kitchen team to prepare soups, garlic bread, and salads for Free Soup Friday at Newtown Community Centre. Fridays from 9 am.
Inspect the Newtown Community Centre Tool Library’s electrical equipment quarterly to ensure safety standards. ~2–4 hours every 3 months.
