HUHA is dedicated to teaching empathy and empowering communities to advocate for and help animals across Aotearoa. Together we rescue, rehabilitate, rehome or release thousands of domestic and wild animals in need every year.

HUHA - Helping You Help Animals - is a charitable trust and New Zealand’s leading no-kill animal shelter. Since our founding in 2001, we’ve advocated for, rescued, rehabilitated, rehomed and released tens of thousands of domestic and wild animals in need. Together, we save lives!
Volunteer with us
Hands-on animal care at the HUHA sanctuary in Upper Hutt across dog, cat, wildlife, horse, and gardening departments. Various shifts.
Volunteer in the HUHA boutique op shop on Cuba Street, Wellington, helping with customers, stock sorting, and store presentation.
Volunteer in the HUHA boutique op shop in Pito-one, Lower Hutt, assisting customers and helping sort and display stock.
