Our Mission:
Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne is managed by Karori Sanctuary Trust, a not-for-profit community-led organisation with charitable status. The Trust’s official vision is to be a world-class conservation site that captures people’s imagination, understanding and commitment and encourages them to protect our natural heritage. Supported by more than 500 volunteers, Zealandia is an example of how community involvement improves social cohesion, mental health, and wellbeing.
Volunteer with us
Helps restore and maintain native plants in public-facing spaces throughout the Zealandia's sanctuary, ensuring these areas remain welcoming and vibrant for visitors.
Keep grass low along Zealandia’s perimeter using scrub cutters with the weekly team. Sundays 9 am – 1 pm.
Walk a section of Zealandia’s predator-exclusion fence regularly, checking for biosecurity issues and submitting reports. 6-month commitment.
