Salvation Army Family Stores are a great way to recycle clothing, furniture, household goods, toys and books. The goods we sell make a huge difference to people’s lives and provide much-needed relief in tight household budgets. Profits from goods and clothing sold through our Family Stores support our community work.

Our Community Ministries centres around New Zealand provide individuals and families with food parcels, budgeting advice, life skills and parenting courses, social work, youth development, and transitional housing. Our aim is to give you a helping hand so you are not dependent on government assistance and can gain a greater level of control over your life.

Since 1883, The Salvation Army has fought poverty and social and spiritual distress in New Zealand.
We’ve been there to help more than 120,000 families and individuals in need each year—with budgeting advice, food and clothing assistance, life skills programmes and other comfort and support.

The Free Store redistributes quality surplus food from over 62 eateries in Pōneke (Wellington) to anyone. We are a community of people from all walks of life who gather around this surplus kai (food) and become friends & family.

Porirua's first social supermarket, Te Umu ki Rangituhi provides access to essential groceries. Whānau who access Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira social services will be supported to access the supermarket, and be able to select the groceries that best meet the needs of them and their whānau.
