The Soup Kitchen embraces an open, honest and simple manner in the way we interact with one another, our guests, our volunteers, our supporters, our colleagues and all with whom we come into contact. We endeavour to operate in a straightforward and uncomplicated manner based on respect and trust and listening with open hearts. Recognising that furthering its mission is dependent on partnership – with the Sisters of Compassion, our staff, our volunteers, our guests, our supporters, our colleagues in the sector and the wider community. We seek to develop and nurture these partnerships, working together, helping one another, valuing and learning from one another and sharing responsibility. We advocate for a fair and equitable society where the rights of all are recognised, recognise that guests may be marginalised by social and economic systems and structures, and that we have a responsibility to highlight these and advocate for change. In the bounty that others share whether as volunteers or supporters we see the hand of God.

SuperGrans support families to plan their household finances, clear debt and manage their household money. They help their clients learn basic cooking, meal planning and food preparation, budget shopping, household management and hygiene. They will also help with basic sewing/mending, gardening and with children’s routines. Their service is free, and they will visit you at home if this is the best place to support you.

Our two centres, Te Tūhunga Rau and Raukawa Community Centre, lead programmes and events that build connections and promote social well-being.
From community meals and craft groups to fitness classes and holiday activities, the community centres host a vibrant range of services and events for everyone. Our social services include Kaibosh food parcels and visits from professionals like midwives, financial mentors and legal advisors.
