Volunteer Wellington is the namesake and main office of the greater organisation. We have been supporting and championing volunteering in Wellington since 1992!
About Volunteer Wellington
Every year, we connect thousands of people with meaningful volunteer opportunities while supporting more than 300 community organisations, charities, and grassroots groups that rely on volunteers to deliver essential services.
We take a people-centered approach to volunteering. We support both individuals looking to volunteer and the organisations that rely on volunteers to deliver their services. Our mahi focuses on making volunteering accessible, inclusive, and impactful for everyone involved. We also provide comprehensive support to community organisations through personalised consultancy, volunteer management training, strategic planning, and networking opportunities.
Our model is based on deep community relationships and 34 years of experience. It is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but one that evolves alongside the sector. Organisations consistently tell us that our services are essential. Volunteers tell us they feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Volunteer Opportunities in Wellington
Mentor a community leader in the Newlands area over a structured 6-month programme with regular check-ins. ~20 hours total.
Advise on funding strategy, grants, and financial structuring for Newlands Resilience Group’s community programme. 2–4 hours per week.
Connect newly registered Plunket parents in Wellington with local parent groups, events, and support resources. Flexible, remote-friendly.
Set up Mailchimp templates, improve segmentation, create automated flows, and train the Bhakti Lounge team. Flexible, project-based.
Photograph events at Bhakti Lounge, capturing energy and guest interactions. Deliver edited photos within one week. Own gear required.
Help fit out new Dress for Success Wellington CBD premises, including plasterboard walls and general construction. May–June 2026.
Work in the Vinnies Kilbirnie shop, welcoming customers and sorting donated stock. Shifts available seven days a week. Training provided.
Coordinate the quarterly Hataitai Happenings newsletter, gathering articles and community updates. ~2–4 hours per month.
Work as a retail assistant in a Mary Potter Hospice op shop across Wellington and Kāpiti. Customer service, sorting, and display.
Photograph new plant-based menu items for Bhakti Lounge’s website and social media. Own equipment required, flexible scheduling.
