About Volunteer Wellington
Every year, we connect thousands of people with meaningful volunteer opportunities while supporting more than 300 community organisations, charities, and grassroots groups that rely on volunteers to deliver essential services.
We take a people-centered approach to volunteering. We support both individuals looking to volunteer and the organisations that rely on volunteers to deliver their services. Our mahi focuses on making volunteering accessible, inclusive, and impactful for everyone involved. We also provide comprehensive support to community organisations through personalised consultancy, volunteer management training, strategic planning, and networking opportunities.
Our model is based on deep community relationships and 34 years of experience. It is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but one that evolves alongside the sector. Organisations consistently tell us that our services are essential. Volunteers tell us they feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Staff the reception desk at Te Hopai Hospital in Newtown, greeting visitors, answering phones, and providing admin support. Flexible hours.

Bocce Coach
Volunteer as a Bocce Coach with Special Olympics Te Whanganui-a-Tara, running warm-ups, skills and practice games each Sunday afternoon (Feb–Nov) — no coaching experience needed, full training provided.
Work in the Red Cross Shop at Mount Cook, sorting donations, serving customers, and merchandising the floor. 4-hour shifts, Mon–Sun.

Board Member
Join the Mt Vic Hub Board of Trustees for monthly governance meetings, supporting this community venue’s future. Second Wednesday evenings.
Work in the Vinnies Brooklyn shop, sorting donations and helping create a welcoming space for the community. No experience required.
Drive the KCA chiller truck on Tuesday or Thursday mornings to collect and sort food donations from supermarkets. 6-month commitment.

Contribute to general housekeeping at Ronald McDonald House Wellington to keep the home clean and welcoming for families. Flexible times.
Fill specialist Board or Operations Team roles for Newlands Resilience Group. Local residents sought. Up to 3 hours per week.
Connect neighbours and build street-level community resilience in Newlands, Paparangi, Woodridge, or Bellevue. ~3 hours per week.

Mentor a community leader in the Newlands area over a structured 6-month programme with regular check-ins. ~20 hours total.
